NCAA: How much money do colleges make from March Madness?

What makes the situation even more complicated is the fact that the National Collegiate Athletic Association NCAA is a nonprofit organization and makes money off of the popular basketball tournament and little. Units are funding shares that are allocated to the basketball conferences in which the remaining funds are distributed. Independent institutions also receive an entire unit share based on their participation over the six-year rolling period. This funding represents about 40 percent of the revenue allocated on an annual basis.
