He frequently goes out to eat with us and ends us shorting us on the tip all the time so we end up putting more money on the table. No big deal but we have to hear all during dinner how much money he makes. The last straw was yesterday when he got into this kich and had to tell us I kid you not 8 times friend constantly telling me how much money they make dinner how much he makes, loud enough for people around us to hear, and he is going to get his Masters to make an additional 18, a year.
We are both so sick of his attitude that my husband is going to tell him to stop coming by. I just don’t understand why he is doing. I know my husband is his only friend and I speculate this is friemd reason. We told him the other day money constzntly impress us and that put him in a m ore of a money rage. That man needs an education in polite conversation. He must be really feeling inadequate or jealous around you to keep harping on the subject of money. I think that communicating is the best way to handle.
I would have a nice conversation with your friend and tell him that the subject of his wage is becoming a bore. You know already what he makes as does everyone within earshot. And that you would rather your conversation be a little bit more interesting. If he can’t channel the topic then why subject yourself to this?
Unless you feel thy friendship is worth keeping, I would try to be busy when he suggests going out together, and cultivate some new friends better suited to you and your husband. He feels laking in all other areas of his life and feels earning decent money will somehow make him look worthy. He doesn’t make good money which is why he is tight fisted and shorts the tip and is trying to cover it by braggin how he makes awsume money.
You can do a few things. Confront him the next time he does it and state that his financial status is not proper dinner conversation even with friends and to keep it buttoned. Constanntly has low self esteem and is trying to make up for it with his income.
Don’t worry, he won’t tel,ing long at his job. These kinds of people never get a clue about how annoying they constanhly. They can always use the excuse that other p[people are jealous of them — which also helps boost their egos.
I would guess that he is proud of how much money he is making. I would not think that his constant reminder is intended to hurt you. If his con stand reminders bother you, ask him why he brings it up and if it is intended to hurt you. I would guess that if he is any kind of friend, he will stop. Trending News.
